Our 29 6th class boys are busy preparing to receive the sacrament of Confirmation on Tuesday May 10th next at the Sacred Heart Church on Western Road.
The ceremony itself will begin at 10:30 am. Each boy will have a pew assigned to him in the church so he can sit with his family for the duration of the Mass. There will be seats free towards the back of the church if you require more space.
The ceremony typically lasts for between an hour and an hour and a half (bear in mind we have quite a large class to be confirmed!) There will be a tea/coffee reception in the adjoining parish hall immediately afterwards where the boys can relax, have photos taken etc. before they leave to celebrate with their families.
As regards what the boys will wear on the day – black shoes (absolutely no runners / trainers), school pants, white shirt, school tie, black blazer (available to buy or rent from Tom Murphy’s Menswear on Patrick St) and rosette (to be purchased from the school).
Brendan Barry, a videographer, will be present to record the ceremony. If you wish to place an order, just let me know before the day itself.
There will be school as normal on Wednesday May 11th. We will arrange for a photographer from Quaid’s to come to the school to take group and individual shots towards the end of that week. There is no obligation to purchase photos or DVDs.
If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
