The Green School Committee has been very busy this term working on projects for the “Biodiversity” flag. We planted vegetable seeds including: potato, turnip, carrot, lettuce, chive and strawberry plants in the raised beds at the back of the school. We also planted a variety of wild flowers which will attract butterflies into the school garden. A huge thank you to Brother Ben for helping us prepare the garden for sowing seeds.
We also organised Art competitions based on sketching native Irish animals and we were thrilled with the amount of participants!
The Green School Committee are in the process of building an “Insect Hotel” in the School garden and would like to thank Mr. Olan Bradley for helping us by donating wooden pallets which will be stacked on top of each other and then filled with leaves, twigs and small pebbles in order to encourage small insects to set up homes in the school garden.
