Boys from 5th and 6th Class set off for Killarney early last Thursday to take part in the Colm Cooper tournament with other Presentation Brothers’ Schools. St. Joseph’s played two matches in their group, overcoming Bunscoil Chríost Rí (4-07 to 1-09) and Milltown, Co. Kerry (4-11 to 2-03). They were then through to the semi-final against St. Joseph’s Cobh, where John led his team to a decisive win (8-12 to 0-02). St. Joe’s found themselves as the underdogs in the final where they were up against the home school, Monastery N.S., Killarney. Each and every member of the team played with great heart and determination in what was without a doubt the toughest match of the day. St. Joseph’s came out on top after displaying fantastic skills and teamwork (2-09 to 1-06). Captain John accepted two trophies on behalf of his team from Colm Cooper and each member of the panel received a medal. An added bonus to the day came for Adam as he received a trophy for his selection as ‘Player of the Tournament’. Well done boys, we are so proud of you all!
