First Class spent Friday afternoon testing out whether magnets can work on metal, plastic or wood.

The boys also thought up other questions to investigate like will a magnet work through something else? (Yes) Does a magnet pull another magnet? (Opposite poles do, alike poles push away.) Will both ends of a magnet pull a piece of metal (yes). Can we find a metal that magnets don’t work on? (Yes – the aluminium water bottle was one example.)
