All pupils from 1st – 6th Class travelled to Páirc Uí Rinn last Wednesday to support boys from 5th and 6th Class who were playing in the Sciath na Scol final against Ballinora N.S. The supporters were enthusiastically led by the Bodhrán Bookills from the stands. It was fantastic to see support from all members of the school community – pupils, parents, staff, members of the board of management and Presentation Brothers – on this momentous occasion.
The Sciath na Scol team once again played superbly, showing their fantastic football skills and team work which has led them to win all 6 of their Sciath na Scol games this year. Over the past two months the boys have shown commitment and dedication, even giving up two days of their midterm break to come in to school to train.
Weather conditions on Wednesday were far from ideal, but all 19 members of the panel gave outstanding performances right until the final whistle, where St. Joseph’s won on a scoreline of 3-08 to 0-05. Josh, the captain on the day, collected the Christy Dooley cup and gave a great speech. The whole school was delighted to have homework off and some treats as a celebration.
