A digital detox started yesterday for 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th class. Five boys from 5th class who tried out a similar detox last year are promoting this initiative. They visited all the senior classes yesterday informing all the pupils as to a) what this detox is, b) why it is a good idea, c) what it involves, d) what pupils will find difficult and e) why we are doing it now before Christmas.
The detox means that the pupils must abstain from the use of social media, online and offline gaming and YouTube for the next three weeks (18/11/2019 – 6/12/2019). Every boy in 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th was willing to take on this challenge.
It is expected that the boys will interact more with their families, play more games outside, read more, sleep better, be less stressed and lose interest in gaming in the long term. Every boy will complete a pre-survey and post-survey so that we can gather evidence of the benefits of the detox.
