After a long and cordial election campaign vote counting began in our prefab this morning. The counting team had just concluded the first tally, in a very close contest.
Unexpectedly around 11.30 a protest broke out in the school’s garden, with participants demanding the student council election be concluded immediately without the transfer of No 2 votes.
The returning officers convened and decided to pause the count on grounds of safety but that the votes would be redistributed on Monday when the count resumes. They declined to comment when asked who was winning, merely stating that it was close and a full result could be expected early on the 21st December.
