Speech and Drama

Sinead Buckley received her teaching diploma with The London Academy of Music & Drama Art (LAMDA) over 25 years ago and has been involved in drama and acting all her life.

In her younger years she won several medals in Feis Maithiu Corcaigh and was a member of Activate Youth Theatre with the Graffiti Theatre Company.  She has performed throughout her life in Cork, Dublin and abroad and brings that knowledge and experience to each of her classes.

She was also a founding and committee member of Footlights Youth Theatre and with Bluehat Productions in Whitechurch she has been involved in the One Act All Ireland Circuit twice and acted in a number of their plays locally since she joined in 2013.

The focus is not about being on stage but being able to be confident in everyday situations, therefore a number of elements are used in class:-

  1. Empowerment & Confidence.
  2. Public Speaking.
  3. The use of imagination & memory.
  4. Drama & Acting.
  5. Speech & The Variation of Speech.

Each of the above is tailored to the students that are being taught.

There is an option to enter the Solo Verse Speaking category (poem) with Feis Maithiu Corcaigh every year if a student so wishes.

Sinead thoroughly enjoys working with children and seeing the progression in their abilities and confidence.  She produces, scripts and directs and every second year ends with a show e.g. Empowerment – This Is Me, A Night of Fairy Tales, A Night of Musicals to name but a few.
